Privacy policy

Last updated 18 October 2026

Booklie is an online booking tool for driving instructors in Ireland. This policy explains what personal data we handle, why, where it is kept and what your rights are. It covers instructors who use Booklie and students who book lessons through it.

Who we are

Booklie is run by [LEGAL NAME / TRADING NAME], [ADDRESS], Ireland. You can contact us about anything in this policy at hello@booklie.ie.

Our role

What we collect

Who Data Why
Instructors Name, email, password (stored encrypted by our sign-in provider), school name, booking link, phone, pickup areas, working hours, lesson types and prices To create your account, run your booking page and send you booking alerts
Students Name, email, mobile number, pickup area, lesson chosen, date and time, EDT lesson number, the language you booked in To make, confirm, change and remind you about your lesson
Everyone A record of emails sent about each booking, and basic technical logs (such as error messages) kept by our hosting providers To make sure messages arrive and to keep the service secure and working

We do not take payments, and we do not collect card or bank details. Students pay their instructor directly.

Legal basis

We do not use your data for advertising and we do not sell it.

Emails we send

Booking emails are part of the service: confirmations, changes, cancellations and a reminder the day before a lesson, with a calendar invite attached. Instructors receive alerts about new bookings and cancellations. We do not send marketing emails to students.

Who we share data with

We use a small number of service providers to run Booklie. They only process data to provide their service to us, under data processing terms.

Provider What for Where
Google Cloud / Firebase Sign-in, database and server functions EU (Belgium) for our database and functions
Mailjet Sending booking emails EU
Netlify Hosting the website files Global network; may involve the United States
Google Fonts Loading the fonts on our website Global; may involve the United States

Where data leaves the European Economic Area, it is protected by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. A student's details are shared with the instructor they booked with, and nobody else.

How long we keep data

Cookies and local storage

We do not use advertising or analytics cookies. When an instructor signs in, the browser stores a sign-in token so you stay logged in; this is strictly necessary for the service. The booking page for students does not store anything that tracks you.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask to access, correct or delete your data, ask us to restrict or object to how we use it, and ask for a copy in a portable format. Email hello@booklie.ie. Students can also contact their instructor. We reply within one month.

You can complain to the Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie), the Irish supervisory authority, at any time.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Students never see other students' bookings, and each instructor can only access their own school's data. No system is perfectly secure, so if we become aware of a breach that affects you, we will tell you and the Data Protection Commission as the law requires.

Children

Learner drivers in Ireland can be 16 or 17. Booklie only collects what is needed to book a lesson. Instructors are responsible for any arrangements with parents or guardians of younger students.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. If the change is significant, we will tell instructors by email before it takes effect.
